Grows On Trees Vegan Cheese is a small business committed to producing vegan cheese in a different way. While many companies simply blend various components together, Grows On Trees uses all allergen-free ingredients (no nuts!), cultures each one, and adds proprietary blends of organic herbs and spices.
The company is owned and operated by a particularly awesome entrepreneur with whom I’ve worked in the past. While he’s quick with the jokes and has an incredible, carefree personality, he takes what he does very seriously and pours himself into the work, tweaking and changing and testing each batch until he’s completely happy with the final product.
I wanted the logo to represent him and his business, so I created an illustration of a tree with cheese growing on it. I don’t often go this literal with a concept, but in this case it seemed the way to go.
Some 2×2 tags were created for smaller cheeses that are wrapped in compostable paper and tied with twine, and some larger black and white labels were created to adhere to the larger compostable boxes for bigger cheeses.
Finally, we bought the URL ‘gotcheese’ as it’s both the initials of the company (Grows On Trees) and a play on the Canadian Dairy slogan ‘Got Milk’.
